Activated Alumina
Activated Alumina Desiccant is available in 1/8-inch, 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch bead sizes. We can typically ship 50 pound bags, 375 pound drums or 2,000 bulk bags of Activated Alumina the day after we receive your order. Dew points to -40°F and lower may be achieved with Activated Alumina Desiccant depending on the compressed air dryer design and operating conditions. The 1/8-inch (2-5mm) Activated Alumina bead is the size most frequently used in regenerative dryers.

Silica Gel
Silica gel is a spherical bead consisting of 97% silica and 3% alumina. It is available in two types: indicating silica gel, a translucent bead impregnated with blue color and non-indicating silica gel, which is a brown translucent color. Since silica gel desiccant fractures in the presence of liquid water. It must be protected by a 10% to 15% (by weight) layer of activated alumina as a water buffer on the inlet side of the desiccant bed. Molecular Sieve
Molecular sieve desiccant is available in 3A, 4A, 5A, and 13X variations and shipped in bags or drums. Molecular sieve desiccant is a sodium aluminosilicate. It has a fixed pore size according to the material specified, a 4 Angstrom pore size being the most common. Pressure dew points to -100°F may be achieved with molecular sieve depending on the compressed air dryer design and operating conditions.

Dry-O-Lite Desiccant
Van Air Dry-O-Lite desiccant is the registered trade name of the absorbent deliquescent desiccant specifically formulated for single tower compressed air dryers. Materials in the desiccant are not toxic or potentially toxic and are completely soluble. When used in a properly sized single tower air dryer, Dry-O-Lite will remove sufficient moisture vapor to establish an approximate 55% RH in the air line.

Special Desiccants
Special Desiccants include Tabular Support Desiccant and specialty desiccants manufactured by Van Air Systems including: Special Purpose (Type SP), High Performance (Type HPD) and Max Performance (Type 10BF). For high demanding compressed air drying applications, we can offer desiccants that will remove sufficient moisture to establish an approximate 10% RH in the air line.
